Worpswede must build bridges again – from history to modernity!

We are planning a "round table" with the aim of making contemporary art more visible in Worpswede and giving guests from all over the world more incentive to visit our beautiful place.

This requires more contemporary art in public spaces , more events, more artists and, as a result, more guests who come back to Worpswede for the art .

Our vision is a Worpswede Art Festival that goes well beyond the three days of open studios.

A first germ on the way there will be offered in July this year as part of the Open Studios 2025:

ART TRAIL IN SCHLUH – Discover, experience and create art 🎨🚶 ‍♂️

As part of the Open Studios Worpswede 2025, we invite artists from various disciplines to become part of a special artistic experience – the KUNSTPFAD IM SCHLUH .

This art trail starts at the Galerie Altes Rathaus and leads through one of Worpswede's oldest streets - past historic workshops, the Haus im Schluh , inspiring nature and finally ends at the Galerie Schluh , which serves as the central meeting point for all participating artists during the event.
Once there, it is not far to other stops such as D @nny's studio, Mimi's legacy or House 6 of the Worpswede Artists' Houses

An art trail full of possibilities

We are looking for artists who will shape public space in their own way – whether through painting, sculpture, performance, music, or interactive formats. The spaces along the trail offer opportunities for:

✔ Plein-air painting & live drawing – create art in front of the audience
✔ Installations & interactive objects – Let art merge with the environment
✔ Performance & Theater – Set strong artistic accents in public spaces
✔ Music & Sound Art – Accompany the trail with acoustic experiences
✔ Pop-up exhibitions & art events – present your works in the middle of the action
✔ Sculptures & sculptural works – If you would like to exhibit sculptures, you are more than welcome! We welcome any form of sculptural art that enhances the trail.

What can the participating artists expect?

Each participant must be officially registered with us and will thus have access to all amenities of the Schluh Gallery :

🔹 Water & Food – A well-equipped kitchen is available
🔹 Places of retreat & exchange – quiet zones for breaks and conversations with other artists
🔹 Networking & Presentation – A platform for new contacts with collectors, galleries, and visitors. Our large garden and foyer are open!
🔹 Be part of a creative community – Let’s make Worpswede’s artistic energy tangible together
