"In a time when images seem to be dissolving due to digital alienation and AI, a topic that has been pursued in such continuity for over 60 years and was mostly recorded on analogue film is also a unique contemporary document. The images have largely not been digitally edited !
The non-profit art association Schluh.art eV is pleased to be able to show a piece of media and journalism history from the German post-war period with this exhibition. The exhibition is solely in the context of public interest in current events in this area. We are pleased to be able to promote and document this with this event."

STARS AND CELEBRITIES
BY PETER + BJÖRN BISCHOFF:

The photographer and journalist, who has lived in Worpswede since 1983, has photographed many stars in his hundreds of photo reports around the world since 1968, thereby writing a piece of journalistic history in German show business. Until 1998, his son Björn also traveled around the world for reports.

In 3 years, 29,000 kilometers of air travel were completed in 29 countries

On his many trips to over 130 countries around the world, Peter Bischoff (born 1941) traveled around the globe almost 100 times to capture over three million photos of stars and celebrities. Back then, the films were still entirely analogue, often sent to Worpswede, developed and distributed to the press by express. Millions of copies of his photos were published in a wide variety of media. In addition to many self-organized and freely financed reports and home stories, he also accompanied well-known television series such as 50 episodes of the ZDF cult series "Traumschiff" and "Glückliche Reise" from PRO 7. This gave him close and trusting, sometimes even friendly contacts with many stars such as Heide Keller, Siegfried Rauch and Thomas Fritsch. His circle of friends also included Heino, Roy Black, Daliah Lavi, Harald Juhnke, Günter Pfitzmann, Rudi Carrell, Udo Jürgens, Siegfried & Roy and many others. His special way of working was to cultivate personal and trusting relationships with celebrities. Motto: Not everything you know needs to be published! During the filming of the many television series, Peter Bischoff experienced dozens of strange, unforgettable stories.

He was there when Tony Marshall became an honorary citizen of Bora Bora in the South Seas, when an actor fell off a horse in Arizona and down a slope, when other actors were arrested for “currency smuggling” in Australia, or when they were able to escape from a breaking ice floe in Greenland by helicopter at the last minute.

BISCHOFF AGENCY:

The Bischoff agency has been run by Peter's son Björn (born in 1966) since 2014 ( www.bjoern-bischoff.de ). It was based in the premises of the SCHLUH gallery at Schluh 71 until the beginning of 2023. The extension to the building was built in the 1990s especially for the agency's needs to create space for the millions of negatives and slides. Around 400,000 of these can still be licensed for publication in digital form through the international photo agency Getty Images.
